When Ruby learns a guy, she dated briefly in college has died, she decides to go to his funeral to make up for how selfishly she treated him. That sets her off on a path of looking at her past choices to move forward with her present love life.

As the death count continues to tick up, AJ starts “working the case” to determine if it’s just a troubling coincidence or a pattern. Ruby and AJ go to the wedding of another ex of Ruby’s, where Ruby tries to get more insight into her past relationships, but only ends up making a horrible mistake.

Ruby is certain all these recent deaths must be the work of a stalker. This theory is only made worse when she realizes the stalker might be her cute new client, Isaac. AJ tells Ruby she has to track down all her exes to warn them they’re going to die, which forces Ruby to further confront how she’s treated people in the past.

Ruby attends therapy in person for the first time in years. When her therapist suggests she take a break from romance, it proves to be more of a challenge than anticipated.

Ruby reconnects with one of her exes, the “one who got away,” who gives her more insight into how she is in relationships. Meanwhile, AJ makes a discovery that changes the course of the case.
